Passengers will have to make multiple transfers
Significant changes are expected in the bus routes of the capital of Kyrgyzstan. The Bishkek City Hall announced plans for "optimization," as reported by Ulanbek Beishenbaev, head of the Department of Transport and Road Transport Infrastructure Development.
According to him, the changes will affect all 72 existing routes.
Some routes will become circular, which should improve access to public transport and change the distribution of passenger flows. Other routes will be completely revised.
According to the official, the goal of these changes is to increase the efficiency of public transport in the city.
However, Beishenbaev acknowledged that passengers will be forced to make several transfers. In response to this, the city authorities plan to introduce a new system that will allow fare payment to be used within one hour on different routes.
It is worth noting that the city hall employees themselves, including the mayor, prefer to travel in personal vehicles, which means that the reform will primarily affect ordinary residents of the city.
