
Nurkemil Zheenaliev, a veteran of the Great Patriotic War, became the first Kyrgyz sailor to serve in the Baltic Fleet. For his displayed heroism during the war, he was awarded the Order of the Red Star and the medals "For Courage," "For the Capture of Berlin," and "For Victory over Germany."
Marat Temirov, who was awarded the title of Rear Admiral of the Soviet Union in 1987 by the resolution of the Council of Ministers of the USSR, served on a nuclear submarine in the Northern Fleet. In 1997, he was granted the title of Vice-Admiral by the decree of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic, making him the only person in the country to hold this title. A diving boat, RVK-1328 "Vice-Admiral Temirov," is named in his honor.
