A personal exhibition by Alimzhan Zhorobaev in Bishkek will be an important event.

In his works, the author captures the disappearance of symbols from the Soviet era, represented in the form of monuments, bas-reliefs, portraits, and slogans, as well as in the interiors of various institutions. These images, which have become artifacts, are now perceived as forgotten, damaged, or reinterpreted elements. This is a kind of visual archaeology of the recent past.

Against the backdrop of disappearing Soviet symbols, new symbols of independence are entering the everyday life of Kyrgyzstan — the flag, national ornaments, rituals, and public events. Tradition is not just being revived; it is becoming an active part of modernity.

Alimzhan Zhorobaev employs a classic approach to documentary photography, using natural light, an observational stance, and minimal interference in the shooting process. Black-and-white and color photography coexist in his works, representing different temporal layers.

His compositions reveal visual rhymes, such as windows and faces, walls and bodies, objects and symbols. Recurring motifs create the effect of a visual poem about time and space.

Zhorobaev's photographs present Kyrgyzstan as a space filled with memory and hope, loss and renewal, tradition and change.

The exhibition will be open until March 11.
