
In 2025, the State Agency for Physical Culture and Sports under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic summarized its work, highlighting a significant increase in both the popularity of mass sports and international activity. Throughout the year, the national team of Kyrgyzstan participated in 230 international competitions. To prepare athletes, 147 training camps were held, and 166 sports events were organized at the national and regional levels. One of the most significant events was the hosting of the World Sambo Championship in Bishkek.
On international stages, Kyrgyz athletes won 846 medals: among them, 267 gold, 234 silver, and 345 bronze. These awards were earned at major competitions such as the Islamic Games, Asian Games, World Championships, and the Deaflympics. For their outstanding achievements, 174 athletes received state scholarships ranging from 20,000 to 60,000 soms. In total, 1 billion 163 million soms were allocated for the development of the sports sector in 2025, of which 20 million were directed towards the purchase of equipment for regional sports schools.
Attention was also focused on mass sports. As part of the "School League" project, 2030 teams from 2700 schools across the country participated in football, basketball, and volleyball. Additionally, the finals of the "I Am a Champion" project were held in the Chui region for 12 sports. A total of 8366 mass events were organized in Kyrgyzstan, with more than 428,000 participants. The agency noted that in the near future, priorities will remain the expansion of international presence and further promotion of physical culture among the population.
