At the meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh on February 25, Deputy Ulan Primov expressed his concern about the decreasing volume of Lake Issyk-Kul. He noted that the shoreline has already shifted, and the number of rivers flowing into the lake has decreased from 80 to about 30.

Primov emphasized the need for immediate action to prevent a possible ecological disaster in the future. "If we do not take measures, our country will face serious consequences. I urge attention to this problem. Let’s consider the possibility of creating a separate agency or department for the protection of Issyk-Kul, to work with international donors and allocate funds for necessary initiatives," he added.
