On the official website of the Jogorku Kenesh, a draft law has been presented that pertains to changes in the legislation of the Kyrgyz Republic regarding the protection of consumer rights and liability for non-compliance with standards when selling organic products. This document aims to tighten the requirements for the rules of sale, labeling, and placement of information about organic goods on the internet.

According to the draft, it will be mandatory to allocate specialized shelves for certified organic products, as well as to create a separate section on sellers' online resources for distance selling.

In the absence of such shelves or necessary information, fines are planned to be imposed, which will range from 3,000 to 20,000 soms depending on whether the seller is an individual or a legal entity.

The amendments also propose introducing liability for the use of symbols and pictograms on regular goods if they may mislead consumers and resemble logos of organic products.

In the explanatory note to the draft law, it is noted that its main goal is to support organic agriculture, increase transparency in market relations, and protect consumers from misleading information. The developers are confident that this document will not require additional budget expenditures and will not lead to negative social or economic consequences.

The draft law is available for discussion on the parliament's website. After the public discussions are completed, it will be put to a vote in the Jogorku Kenesh.
