New approaches to interaction with civil activists and the media have been proposed
Askhat Alagozov, the press secretary of the president, stated in an interview with Radio Azattyk that as part of the reform of law enforcement structures, it is planned to change the approach to interaction with journalists, civil activists, and businessmen.
He noted that law enforcement agencies will receive recommendations to use measures that do not involve arrest whenever possible and in accordance with the law. Additionally, there will be an emphasis on preventive work.
“However, this does not mean that everything will be allowed. Each decision will be made taking into account the specific circumstances and in accordance with the norms of the law,” he added in a written response.
Earlier, several media organizations and journalists sent an appeal to President Sadyr Japarov, Chairman of the State Committee for National Security Jumgalbek Shabdanbekov, and Chairman of the Supreme Court Mederbek Satyiev regarding criminal cases against representatives of the media and civil activists.
