At the Ministry of Labor, Social Security and Migration, a presentation of new equipment — a 3D printer and a 3D scanner made in France — took place at the Republican Institution of Prosthetic and Orthopedic Products.
According to the information from the department, these technologies were acquired as part of the modernization program. At the event, participants were able to familiarize themselves with the 3D prosthetics room, as well as the capabilities of the new equipment and the walking school.
The equipment, costing 45,850 euros, was purchased with funds from the republican budget. This implementation of 3D technologies in prosthetics is the first among the CIS countries.
The institution serves more than 13,000 people with disabilities, of which 1,396 receive lower limb prostheses, and 443 receive upper limb prostheses. More than 150 different types of prosthetic and orthopedic products are custom-made.
The event was attended by the Deputy Prime Minister, the Minister of Labor, Social Security and Migration, the Ambassador of France to Kyrgyzstan, representatives of trade unions, the I. Razakov Kyrgyz Technical University, as well as partners from Russia and Uzbekistan.
Edil Baisalov, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet, noted that the institution's equipment had not undergone systematic renewal for over 40 years.
"In 2024, as part of the action plan of the Cabinet of Ministers for the modernization of the material and technical base, 100 million soms will be allocated. We are taking a significant step forward in the development of the prosthetics and rehabilitation system. The introduction of 3D technologies is a transition to a new level of service quality. This is the first such implementation in the CIS. Digital technologies guarantee high precision, comfort, and an individual approach to each patient," he emphasized.
According to the institution, the use of the 3D printer allows for increased accuracy in the production of stump sockets, reduces the number of fittings, and improves the rehabilitation process for patients.
During the event, congratulations were also expressed for the upcoming International Women's Day on March 8, and letters of appreciation were presented to the institution's female employees for their professionalism and contribution to the development of the prosthetics and rehabilitation system.
