The Bishkek City Dramatic Theater named after Arsen Umuraliev is preparing for a long-awaited premiere. The play "Oturguçtar," which is the Kyrgyz translation of the famous work "The Chairs" by Eugène Ionesco, will be presented on stage. This information has been confirmed by the theater's press service.
Originally written in 1951, the play, which the author himself described as a tragic farce, has become a true symbol of the theater of the absurd and gained popularity through numerous productions around the world.
The translation was done by Alymkan Degenbaeva, a distinguished figure in the culture of Kyrgyzstan, which makes this premiere particularly significant.
The director of the performance is Chagalak Zamirbekov, while the set design and costumes are created by Zukhra Mukambetova. The choreographer is Sergey Streltzov, also a distinguished figure in the culture of the Kyrgyz Republic.
The plot of the play presents a simple yet profound story about life, loneliness, love, old age, and death. The main characters—a man and a woman—spend their last day waiting for invisible guests, reliving their lives and trying to understand the meaning of human existence.
The cast features talented actors: Nakynai Dykhanova and Ruslan Orozakunov, a distinguished artist of the Kyrgyz Republic. Their mastery allows for the creation of an atmosphere of dark humor, comedy, and sincere sadness on stage, making the performance particularly memorable.
The premiere is scheduled for March 13, 14, and 15 at the address: Chuy Avenue, 28, Bishkek.
