Nurgul Ibraeva, head of the Department of Medical Assistance Organization and Pharmaceutical Policy, reported a shortage of 2000 family doctors in Kyrgyzstan during a joint meeting of parliamentary groups.

She explained that according to established norms, one group of family doctors is responsible for a load of 1300 people from the mixed population each month.

“Each family doctor should see 12-15 patients a day, which amounts to 200-210 people a month, considering that each patient takes 15-20 minutes,” she added.

Ibraeva also noted that in practice, family doctors face a significantly higher workload.
