A series of events dedicated to the International School Meals Day has begun in Kyrgyzstan, as reported by the World Food Programme in Bishkek.
These events are organized jointly by the Ministry of Education, the World Food Programme, and the Russian Institute of Sectoral Nutrition.
From March 18 to 27, a unique educational campaign called "Invisible Heroes" will take place in the Chui and Jalal-Abad regions. It includes a series of interactive tasks culminating in the creation of creative "dossiers" on food service staff.
Two schools have been selected as key venues for the Healthy Eating Week:
- Baytik Kanai Uulu Secondary School in the Chui region (Alamedin district).
- Secondary School No. 9 named after R. Sanatbaev in the city of Manas.
For two weeks, 4th-grade students, together with senior student curators, will gain knowledge through game mechanics, team tasks, and physical activities. At the end of each session, each child will receive a release of "Cognitive Games about Healthy Eating," which they can complete at home with their parents.
Younger students will become "agents" collecting information about the "invisible heroes" of school nutrition. They will create "photo robots" – portraits of cooks and kitchen staff, made in various techniques of decorative and applied arts. By participating in this "investigation," young agents will have the opportunity to view those who work daily at the school kitchen in a new light.
The project organizers have an important social mission – to change children's perceptions of school food and to foster respect for food service staff, whose work often goes unnoticed.
