In an interview on Birinchi Radio, Sulumbek Uzonbaev, a representative of the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Kyrgyzstan, spoke about the duration of the month of Orozo this year, which lasted 29 days. According to him, this is related to the fact that lunar months can have either 29 or 30 days.
“There is no point in looking for some trick in this. Orozo can last either 29 or 30 days. This month, which is the sultan among months, symbolizes generosity and mercy, awakening kindness and compassion in people. It shows the equality of the rich and the poor. Understanding what hunger is, when those fasting experience a lack of food, wealthy individuals begin to realize the need,” he noted.
Sulumbek Uzonbaev added that this holy month is coming to an end, and we hope that all prayers uttered during this time will be heard. Ramadan teaches us self-control, as those fasting refrain not only from food but also from unnecessary words, bad deeds, and forbidden actions.
It should be reminded that the holiday of Orozo Ait will be celebrated tomorrow, March 20, and this day has been declared a holiday in the country.
