He emphasized that there have been instances in the city where vehicles have hit utility workers performing their duties on the streets.
“Every road accident is a serious tragedy. People die, and children are left without parents. Such incidents are unacceptable,” the mayor noted.
Akayev highlighted the importance of strictly adhering to traffic rules, especially regarding speed and attention to pedestrians.
He pointed out that in Osh, drivers often neglect pedestrian crossings and do not yield the right of way, while in other cities this is considered the norm.
The mayor also criticized the driving culture, noting the frequent use of horns and a lack of mutual respect among road users.
Akayev urged drivers to show tolerance and attentiveness to one another, to strictly follow the rules, and to respect pedestrians in order to prevent new tragedies on the roads.
