On the sidewalk on Kurmanjan Datka Street in Bishkek, numerous holes have appeared, raising serious concerns among local residents, especially at night when it is easy to injure a leg.

Problems with the asphalt surface began to arise in the first spring after the completion of the repairs: cracks and potholes appeared in various sections.

It is worth noting that this section of the road was renovated last year.

After the publication of citizens' appeals, the press service of the Bishkek mayor's office reported that, according to information from the Department of Transport and Road Infrastructure Development, the construction of the sidewalk on Kurmanjan Datka Street "was not fully completed, and the work performed was not officially accepted."

“The problematic section in question is located on the eastern side of the road, where the subcontractor 'AVK Group' carried out the work. The asphalt work completed in 2025 was not accepted, and payment for it has also not been made. Payment will only occur after verification and acceptance of the work by the commission,” the mayor's office commented.

Additionally, the mayor's response indicates that after the installation of outdoor lighting, the municipal enterprise "Bishkeksvet" did not properly compact the trenches, which led to subsidence on the sidewalk. In response, "Bishkeksvet" sent a letter expressing its intention to rectify the identified deficiencies, the statement said.
