In the final of the Spanish Super Cup, held at the "King Abdullah Sports City" stadium, "Barcelona" once again triumphed over their arch-rival, Madrid's "Real", finishing the match with a score of 3:2.
Raphinha became the star of the match, scoring a brace. His decisive goal was scored in the 73rd minute — despite a not-so-successful shot, the ball, deflecting off defender Raúl Asensio, confused goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois and ended up in the net.
The end of the first half was particularly eventful: during added time, the teams scored three goals. In the 36th minute, Raphinha opened the scoring, going one-on-one with the goalkeeper. But soon Vinícius Júnior, breaking his 16-match goal drought, equalized the score, skillfully dribbling past several defenders.
Just two minutes later, "Barcelona" took the lead again thanks to a precise shot from Robert Lewandowski, but "Real" managed to restore parity before the break — Gonzalo García scored in added time.
In the second half, the game was tense, and the key moment came after Raphinha's second goal. In the 76th minute, Kylian Mbappé entered the game, having missed the semifinal due to a knee injury, but he could not change the course of the match in favor of "Real".
In added time of the second half, Frenkie de Jong, a midfielder for "Barcelona", received a red card, but the Catalan team managed to maintain their winning score.
To reach the final, "Barcelona" crushed "Athletic" Bilbao with a score of 5:0, while "Real" defeated "Atlético" 2:1.
Rafael Lusan, president of the Royal Spanish Football Federation, announced that the next Super Cup final in 2027 will take place either in Kuwait or Qatar, as Saudi Arabia will host the Asian Cup that year. The tournament will return to Saudi Arabia in 2028 and will remain there at least until 2030.
Meanwhile, in La Liga, teams not participating in the Super Cup played their matches: "Espanyol" drew with "Levante" (1:1), while "Rayo Vallecano" defeated "Mallorca" at home (2:1).
After 19 rounds, "Barcelona" occupies the top spot in the table, leading "Real" by four points.
