A team of young athletes from Kyrgyzstan participated in an International Curling Tournament held in the Chinese city of Yichun. This was reported by the press service of the scientific-educational complex "Lomonosov School".
Teams from Belarus, Iran, Kazakhstan, China, and Russia also participated in this tournament, making the competition particularly significant for the participants.
For the junior team of Kyrgyzstan, this event was an important step in the development of curling, which is still a relatively new sport in the country. The team consists of school students training at the NOC "Lomonosov School" and are part of the federation of this sport.
Aysuluu Duyshonbekova, a ninth-grade student and one of the team members, has been curling for several years. She has already attended training camps in Turkey and now represents Kyrgyzstan on the international stage.
For me, being one of the first to practice curling in our country is a significant achievement.

In her words, participation in international tournaments allows athletes to assess the level of their competitors and identify areas for further development.
“We saw other athletes and realized that we have room to grow. Moreover, it is an opportunity to get acquainted with another culture and approach to sports,” added Aysuluu Duyshonbekova.
Aybek Asanaliev, the head coach of the curling federation, emphasizes that this sport requires not only physical preparation but also the ability to think strategically.
Curling is a kind of chess on ice. It is not enough to just throw the stone well; you need to be able to analyze the situation, feel the game, and interact with partners and opponents.

The preparation for the tournament included theoretical classes, tactical analysis, and training camps in Turkey, where the team worked with highly qualified specialists training Olympic teams.
Despite their young age and the lack of developed infrastructure, the team from Kyrgyzstan successfully showcased themselves on the international stage and managed to compete with more experienced opponents. Although the juniors did not win any prizes at the tournament in Yichun, their participation became an important milestone for the further development of curling in the country.
