Dmitry Bivol, a boxer who became the world champion in the light heavyweight division, was born on December 18, 1990. His skill in evading punches and counterattacks is compared to characters from "The Matrix."

The editorial team of Kaktus.media reminds us of some facts from his life.

Dmitry regularly visits Kyrgyzstan both for training and personal trips.

Throughout his career, he actively supports his homeland.

In particular, he financed the major renovation of his hometown school in Tokmok.

He paid for tickets to the boxing world championship for some athletes of the Kyrgyzstan national team.

He also opened his boxing gym in Bishkek.

Outstanding Athlete

Bivol reached the pinnacle of success in boxing by the age of 17, winning the world championship among cadets twice and claiming victory at the European championship twice. In his amateur career, he achieved 268 wins, suffering only 15 losses.

Dmitry's professional debut took place on November 28, 2014, when he faced Uruguayan Jorge Rodriguez Oliveira and won by technical knockout in the sixth round. In his fourth match, he won the vacant WBC-USNBC title and later became the international champion according to the WBA.

Since 2022, he has represented Kyrgyzstan on the international stage. This happened for the first time during the fight with Canelo.

On the night of October 12-13, 2024, a fight took place in Riyadh between Dmitry Bivol and Artur Beterbiev for the title of absolute world champion. The match lasted all 12 rounds, after which the judges scored it: 114-114, 115-113, 116-112 in favor of Beterbiev.

This defeat was the first in Bivol's career; however, many well-known boxers and experts disagreed with the judges' decision, stating that Bivol had his victory stolen.

A rematch was soon scheduled, which took place in February 2025. The judges' verdict: 114-114, 116-112, 115-113 in favor of Bivol.

Education and Personal Qualities

Dmitry Bivol holds two higher education degrees: one from the Lesgaft State University of Physical Culture, Sport, and Health, and another from the Kuban State Agrarian University, where he studied law.

He is fluent in English, which helps him in his international career.

Although Bivol does not seek self-promotion, he communicates openly with journalists.

At the same time, he claims that he does not feel comfortable in the media environment.

“I don’t like noisy companies and parties… I was raised to say only what I can answer for. I believe that insulting people is wrong,” he shares in an interview with Sports.ru.

Scandals in Personal Life

Unfortunately, his name is also associated with scandals, mainly concerning dissatisfaction from his ex-wife, Ekaterina.

Dmitry met her at the age of 16, they have two sons, and they divorced in 2023.

Initially, Ekaterina said that her husband was an honorable man, but later she began to publish scandalous statements, even claiming support for Beterbiev.

In October of this year, she posted offensive comments about the citizens of Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan. As a result, an investigation was initiated in Russia regarding Ekaterina Bivol, during which she was sent for a psychiatric examination.

Film and Sport

In November, it became known that Dmitry Bivol, who unified the title of world champion in the light heavyweight division (up to 79.4 kg), starred in the Kyrgyz sports film "Capture."
