Ikhtiyar Nishonov won the bronze medal at the World Championship

Athlete from Kyrgyzstan Ikhtiyar Nishonov won a bronze medal at the World Boxing Championship held in the United Arab Emirates.

Nishonov competed in the weight category up to 71 kg, starting from the 1/16 finals.

In his first match, he won by knockout against the Australian boxer in just 22 seconds, and then in the second round, he knocked out the athlete from Thailand in the 1/8 finals.

In the quarterfinals, the Kyrgyzstani faced a boxer from Moldova and won by a split decision, which allowed him to advance to the semifinals.

On the night of December 12, Nishonov battled against a Kazakh athlete for a place in the finals. After three rounds, the victory was awarded to the boxer from Kazakhstan.

Thus, Ikhtiyar Nishonov finished the competition in third place, receiving a bronze medal.

Another bronze for Kyrgyzstan in the weight category up to 63.5 kg was won by Omar Livaza.
