Ikhtiyar Nishonov reached the semifinals at the World Championship in the UAE

Athlete from Kyrgyzstan, Ikhtiyar Nishonov, reached the semifinals at the World Boxing Championship in the United Arab Emirates.

The championship, organized by the IBA, is taking place in Dubai.

Nishonov competes in the weight category up to 71 kg and began his journey from the 1/16 finals.

In his first fight, the Kyrgyzstani achieved a quick victory, knocking out the Australian boxer in just 22 seconds. Then, in the 1/8 finals, he once again showcased his skills by knocking out the Thai athlete in the second round, which allowed him to advance to the quarterfinals.

In the 1/4 finals, Ikhtiyar faced the Moldovan boxer, Vasiliy Chebotari, and managed to win by a split decision.

Now the Kyrgyzstani is preparing for the semifinal match, where his opponent will be a representative from Kazakhstan.

Omar Livaza, competing in the weight category up to 63.5 kg, also reached the semifinals.

1/16 finals:

Ikhtiyar Nishonov - Alex Skantzos (Australia) — Nishonov wins by knockout in the first round.

1/8 finals:

Witthaya Chansom (Thailand) - Ikhtiyar Nishonov — Nishonov wins by knockout in the second round.

1/4 finals:

Vasiliy Chebotari (Moldova) - Ikhtiyar Nishonov - 2:3.

Semi-final:

Ikhtiyar Nishonov - Ablaykhan Zhussupov (Kazakhstan).
