Akjol Makhmudov reached the final of the Islamic Games

Kyrgyz athlete Akjol Makhmudov has reached the finals of the Islamic Solidarity Games taking place in Saudi Arabia.

He competes in Greco-Roman wrestling in the weight category up to 77 kg, starting from the 1/8 finals.

In his first match, Makhmudov secured an early victory over a wrestler from Tunisia, and then quickly defeated an Egyptian athlete, whose coach is the former mentor of the Kyrgyz national team, Azat Erkimbaev.

In the semifinals, the Kyrgyz wrestler faced an Iranian athlete representing Qatar. Despite trailing 0:2 after the first period, he managed to execute a 4-point throw in the second part of the match and ultimately won.

Now, Makhmudov is preparing for the final match, where his opponent will be Abdi Amir from Iran.

The final bouts will begin at 20:30 Bishkek time.
