At the IBA World Boxing Championship 2025 in Dubai (UAE), Bakyt Toktosun uulu, representing Kyrgyzstan, won his first bout.
In the round of 16 in the under 92 kg category, he faced Kenyan boxer Peter Abuti Alvanga and won by a split decision of the judges with a score of 4:1, thus securing his further participation in the tournament. Alvanga concluded his performances at this championship.
The IBA World Championship will last until December 13, and the total prize fund is $8.32 million. Kazakhstan is represented in all 13 weight categories of the tournament.
This victory marked the beginning of a successful performance for the Kyrgyzstan national team on the international stage.
