At the Islamic Solidarity Games in Saudi Arabia, Kyrgyzstani Akzhol Makhmudov won a gold medal.

The athlete competed in the Greco-Roman wrestling category up to 77 kg and began his journey from the 1/8 finals.

In the first match, he achieved a confident victory over a wrestler from Tunisia, and then in the quarterfinals, he also left no chances for the Egyptian. The fight for the final was intense, but Akzhol managed to win against the Iranian athlete representing Qatar.

In the decisive bout, Makhmudov faced another representative from Iran.

This time, the Kyrgyzstani won by fall, earning him the long-awaited gold medal.

This award became the first for Kyrgyzstan at the current Islamic Games.
