Makhmudov competed in Greco-Roman wrestling in the 77-kilogram category and began his journey from the quarter-finals.
In his first match, the athlete defeated a wrestler from Tunisia, after which he faced an Egyptian and also emerged victorious. In the decisive bout for a place in the final, the Kyrgyz managed to outplay an Iranian representing Qatar in a tense struggle.
In the final, Akjol met another wrestler from Iran and won by fall, earning him gold — the first for Kyrgyzstan at these Games.
Additionally, Kyrgyzstani Asan Janishov won a bronze medal, defeating Islam Abbasov from Azerbaijan with an impressive score of 9:0.
Another bronze medal was claimed by Razak Beishkeyev, who confidently defeated a wrestler from Afghanistan.
