Discussing the future of his charge, Eddie Hearn noted that the first fight may be less significant compared to a potential third bout against Artur Beterbiev. "This could be an official defense of one of his titles, of which he has plenty. We are also considering options with Callum Smith and Michael Eifert. Don't forget that there is a mandatory challenger according to the WBA," Hearn said in an interview with EverythingBoxing.
Dmitry Bivol won against Artur Beterbiev in February of this year, becoming the undisputed world champion in the light heavyweight division. Their first bout ended with a victory for Beterbiev.
In August, Beterbiev announced his efforts to organize a third fight; however, Bivol's team did not participate in the negotiations. Shortly after that, Bivol reported a successful back surgery. Promoter Khryunov also stated that the likelihood of a third fight between Bivol and Beterbiev is increasing.
