Kyrgyz boxer Omar Livaza has reached the final of the 2025 World Championship, currently taking place in the United Arab Emirates.

Livaza competes in the category up to 63.5 kg, starting his tournament journey from the Round of 16.

In his first fight, he won against one of the tournament favorites, Uzbek boxer Sayat Ilyasov, followed by three consecutive victories over athletes from Armenia, Azerbaijan, and Zambia.

Now the Kyrgyz athlete is preparing for the final bout for the gold medal, which is a historic achievement, as no boxer from Kyrgyzstan has reached such success before.

His opponent will be Ilya Popov, a boxer from Russia. The 25-year-old Popov has secured victories over representatives from Namibia, Spain, Libya, Puerto Rico, and Kazakhstan in this tournament.

Popov is a master of sports of international class in Russia. He won the championship title at the last two national championships (2024, 2025) and also has gold from the Youth Olympic Games (2018), silver from the Youth World Championship (2018), and the title of European Youth Champion (2018) to his name.

In February 2023, he began his professional career and has already achieved three victories.

The bout between Livaza and Popov is scheduled for December 13.
