Excavations at the "Novopokrovskoye-II" Settlement in 2014
A report on the 11th season of archaeological excavations conducted at the settlement "Novopokrovskoye-II" near Bishkek (Kyrgyzstan) under the leadership of archaeologists Valery Kolchenko (Kyrgyzstan) and Philipp Rott (Germany).
The settlement "Novopokrovskoye-II" is an archaeological monument from the 8th to 12th centuries located in the central part of the Chui Valley, where one of the routes of the Great Silk Road passed. The flourishing of this medieval city, like that of other cities in the Chui Valley, occurred in the 10th-11th centuries, during the era of the Karakhanids.
