People's Artist of the Kyrgyz SSR Jamal Seydakmatova
She was born on September 21, 1938, in the village of Temirovka, Issyk-Kul region. Her father waited a long time for children; Jamal was the first child born to his fifth wife.
She graduated from the capital's School No. 5 named after A. S. Pushkin in Frunze. After school, at her father's insistence, she entered the Leningrad Polygraphic Institute, but her dream of creativity never left her. Since childhood, Jamal had a talent for singing and dancing. In her second year, she dropped out of school, returned to Frunze, and joined the theater.
In 1957, she was hired by the KNADT. For decades, she was one of the leading actresses on the domestic stage, even though she had no formal education. She successfully acted in films. One of the first roles that made her famous was that of Ziyagul in Alexander Karpov's film "Far in the Mountains." The actress is remembered for her roles in films such as "Valley of Ancestors," "Shot at the Karash Pass," "Descendant of the White Leopard," "Song of Love," "Early Cranes," and others. Seydakmatova was considered a master of lyrical and dramatic characters. However, her portrayal of Katerina, as well as Agafya Tikhonovna in the play "The Marriage" ("Uylonuu"), showed that she also had a comedic talent.
In 1989, she founded the first private theater "Tunguch," and until her death, she was its unchanging artistic director. With a group of like-minded actors, she tried to open a studio at the Kyrgyz Drama Theater. She initially persuaded director Almaz Sarlykbekov to stage the drama "My Mother's Love" by Zhenishgul Ozubekova and the play "Munabiya" by Kazat Akmatov and Zhanish Kulmambetov. The creation of a theater within a theater was not liked by the then leadership, and Seydakmatova and her supporters left the Kyrgyz Drama Theater. As a result, in December 1990, the official opening of the first private theater "Tunguch" in Kyrgyzstan took place in the hall of the building for theatrical figures.
She was a deputy, as was her second husband. At the age of 22, she married the talented actor Bolot Shaltaev. When their son turned seven, her husband died from a serious illness. When she met her second husband, Sadyrbek Nazarov, he was a deputy of the city council, while Jamal was a deputy of the district council. They met as deputies, discussed various issues, and eventually got married.
In 1970, she was awarded the title of "Honored Artist of Kyrgyzstan," and in 1976, the honorary title of "People's Artist of Kyrgyzstan."
In 1986, she became a laureate of the State Prize of the Kyrgyz SSR named after Toktogul Satylganov.
Jamal Seydakmatova became a two-time order bearer: a knight of the "Manas" Order of the III degree in 2003 and II degree in 2019.
As a result of a serious illness, the actress passed away on February 16, 2021, at the age of 82. She was buried at the Ala-Archa cemetery.
