How the Political Case Against Abdulkarim Sydykov Was Fabricated
In the statement by X. Khasanov regarding the accused, it was written: "1. Citizen Abdulkarim Sydykov, as everyone knows, previously served in the district administration as a translator and became quite notorious in this position as a lover of easy profit and a extractor of all resources from the Kyrgyz people. Who among them has not had some dealings with the district administration? Being elected as a deputy to the district commissioner by the Provisional Government, he constantly promoted only the interests of the manaps and kulaks. Recently, he has become a secret agitator against Bolshevism, therefore, a denier of the ideas of the existing Soviet power. Wishing to detach the dark Kyrgyz population from Bolshevism (everyone who followed other parties suddenly became "the dark masses." — Z. K), he depicts the ideas of Bolshevism in a purely predatory spirit before their eyes. Back in 1917, he, together with the chairman of the regional Kyrgyz "Alash," Jainakov, and others, concluded some kind of block with the Cossack population at the regional congress, leading the unsuspecting Kyrgyz population almost to catastrophe. The result of the Cossack plan has now become clear. Furthermore, Sydykov, by the way, is being prosecuted for illegal actions in office. His case is currently being handled by the magistrate of the 1st district of Pishpek County. Recently, he, together with Koybagarov Akhmedbek and Azimbek Sagimbaev, falsely took 220 sheep from the Kyrgyz of Tleuberdi, Kuntuyev, and Kanaev volosts in the name of the Council, which all three appropriated. The court will investigate this in due time." An unflattering characterization was also given to other "accomplices" of A. Sydykov, who were referred to in the statement as "gray wolves," "cleaners of the people's pockets," "anti-Soviet elements." Furthermore, the document stated: "After the last congress (referring to the congress of the Pishpek Soviet — Z. K.), at midnight in the house of Abdulkerim Sydykov, the manaps gathered for a secret meeting... (followed by a list of the accused. — Z. K.) and held a long secret conversation among themselves. Then they invited the chairman of the Kyrgyz Union of Proletarians, Kyzai Kalbaev (an authoritative Bolshevik figure. — Z. K.) and urged him to leave the Bolshevik party with the entire Kyrgyz proletariat and join the Left Socialist-Revolutionaries, saying: Bolshevism will soon collapse, as everyone is tired of the Bolshevik tactics. Now the Cossacks are coming, and soon Bolshevism will dissipate like smoke, so abandon this party and join the Left Socialist-Revolutionaries. Here, Kyzai Kalbaev, is 2000 rubles from us. If you leave the Bolsheviks, we will make you the chairman and soon reward you with money. Present at this meeting, besides Kyzai Kalbaev, were Ibraim Kurmanov, Ibraim Tulino, Akhmed Tyulkubaev, Amankul Dulatov, Ismail Donenbaev, Khisamutdin Khudaybergenov, Toktamish Otobayev, who will confirm the aforementioned provocative actions."
