Sydykov Mamatbek
Architect. Born in 1946 in the village of Orto-Aryk, Panfilov District, Kyrgyz SSR.
In 1972, he graduated from the architectural and construction faculty of the Frunze Polytechnic Institute. In the same year, he was hired by the design institute "Kyrgyzgiproselkhoz" (now TsNIIPEPvtsiprom), where he worked as an architect in standard and experimental design. Here, as part of the author team, he developed a series of standard general education schools for 461, 624, and 784 students, as well as a project for a community and trade center for the village. His work in the department of standard and experimental design played a decisive role in shaping his creativity.
In 1975-1976, M. Sydykov worked as an architect in the laboratory of the Ministry of Communications of the Kyrgyz SSR. During these years, together with artists, he carried out architectural and artistic design of the interiors of several buildings of the Ministry of Communications.
In 1977, M. Sydykov moved to "Kyrgyzkommunproekt" as the head of a group of architects. Together with architect A. Abduldabekov, he developed the northern entrance to the city of Frunze with landscaping of the adjacent territory. He developed, as part of a team, projects for the reconstruction of several notable buildings, such as the buildings of Kyrgyz State University, the Russian Drama Theater, the Historical Museum, the Supreme Council, and others, as well as projects for individual buildings.
Member of the Union of Architects of the USSR since 1979.
M. Sydykov places great importance on competitive design. He contributes to the promotion and popularization of architecture in the republic. He publishes his articles in the weekly "Kyrgyzstan Madeniyaty" ("Culture of Kyrgyzstan"), sharing his thoughts on various architectural issues with readers. Two of his articles were awarded second prizes in the competition for the best works in art and architecture, held by the Ministry of Culture and the editorial board of the weekly in 1984 and 1985. He is an author as part of the team of the Kyrgyz Soviet Encyclopedia and was awarded a diploma from the VDNH of the Kyrgyz SSR.
