The deputy director emphasized that the decisions to improve infrastructure were based on international experience. Specialists from the botanical garden studied the functioning of similar facilities in South Korea, Russia, Kazakhstan, and Tajikistan, which served as the foundation for the idea of creating an amphitheater.
Scientific activity in the botanical garden continues to be a priority, noted Albanov. He cited the Tajik botanical garden, which also operates under the Academy of Sciences, offering areas for recreation, shops, museums, protected areas, and even a zoo, while researchers work in designated spaces.
According to Nurlan Albanov, a similar approach is planned to be implemented in Bishkek. He clarified that an area of about 40 hectares will be open to visitors, while 80 hectares will remain closed for scientific purposes.
It is worth noting that the Bishkek Botanical Garden occupies the largest area in Central Asia — 151 hectares. According to Albanov, only in Russia is there a larger botanical garden — the Central Botanical Garden, which spans about 320 hectares, with partially open areas for visitors.
“In Bishkek, we will follow a similar practice: 40 hectares will be available for recreation, while about 80 hectares will remain closed to outsiders,” added Albanov.
In the open area for visitors, work is currently underway to construct paths, including pedestrian and bicycle paths, as well as running routes, which will allow people to enjoy nature and relax in comfortable conditions.
