According to Azamat Mambetov, Deputy Minister of Emergency Situations, the accuracy of forecasts from the meteorological service has reached 96%. He reported this on February 13 during a briefing in Bishkek.

The meteorological service provides forecasts for various timeframes: seven, five, three, and one day, with shorter timeframes yielding higher accuracy in predictions.

To improve the operations of the hydrometeorological service, the Ministry of Emergency Situations has conducted a complete modernization of the observation system. Since 2007, the agency has been actively updating its equipment, replacing outdated manual stations with modern automatic ones. Currently, 135 such meteorological stations are in operation.

Mambetov also noted that the level of development of hydrometeorology in Kyrgyzstan peaked in 1985, when there were 85 meteorological stations in operation. By 2007, when Kyrgyzhydromet was integrated into the structure of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the number of operational stations had decreased to 33. The modernization was funded through grants and loans from various international organizations and financial institutions.

In addition to meteorological stations, hydroposts that measure water resource volumes in formation areas have also been updated. Currently, there are 98 such hydroposts functioning in the country, allowing for accurate assessment of the volume of incoming water into irrigation and energy networks.

Kyrgyzhydromet is responsible for forecasting river flow and precipitation in the form of snow and rain, which then become water resources for reservoirs and hydroelectric power stations. These forecasts are the basis for planning the operations of irrigation, agricultural, and energy systems.
