The National Bank conducted the largest currency intervention of the year — $173.9 million sold

On November 10, the National Bank of Kyrgyzstan conducted its largest currency intervention of the year, selling a total of $173.9 million on the interbank foreign exchange market.

The regulator clarified that out of the specified amount, $65.3 million was sold with settlements on the day of the transaction, while $108.6 million was sold with settlements at a later date.

Thus, starting from 2025, the National Bank has conducted six interventions, during which a total of $590.5 million was sold.

The aim of the currency interventions is to smooth out sharp fluctuations in the exchange rate of the som and to maintain stability in the domestic foreign exchange market.
