Thus, Bulgaria will become the 21st country to successfully meet all the requirements for membership in the eurozone, and the total number of Europeans using the euro will reach 350 million.
It should be noted that the issue of transitioning to the new currency is causing disagreement among Bulgarians, especially among those who fear further steps towards Europe, considering the cultural and political ties of the country with Russia.
Nevertheless, despite the existing skepticism, businesses in Bulgaria are actively preparing for the implementation of the euro. In the capital, Sofia, prices in stores and on the streets are already displayed in both currencies, and billboards feature information about the exchange rate of the euro to the lev.
