A new all-Russian classifier of positions and professions has been adopted in Russia, replacing the outdated list that had been in effect since 1994. The previous version did not correspond to the modern realities of the labor market, and now thousands of specialists working in the informal sector have received official codes and social guarantees.
The reform has covered almost all areas of employment, with particularly noticeable changes occurring in the field of digital technologies. Now SMM managers, copywriters, web developers, and neural network specialists are officially recognized. Virtual reality architects and usability experts have also received well-deserved attention, which will allow their work to be taken into account when calculating work experience and pension contributions, something that was previously difficult due to a lack of appropriate wording in employment records.
Significant changes have also occurred in the beauty and service industry. In-demand professions such as fitness trainers, permanent makeup artists, aesthetic cosmetologists, and groomers (animal care specialists) are now officially included in the state register. Additionally, in the medical sector, codes have been assigned to cosmetologists, neuropsychologists, and sexologists, which will help establish clearer standards in their work.
The updated document includes about 5,600 working specialties and more than 4,000 positions. This update of the classifier represents not just a formality, but a serious step towards synchronizing the state system with the demands of the 21st century. The transition to new standards will allow for more accurate data collection, the development of relevant job descriptions, and the formation of a transparent personnel policy that meets modern business needs.
