The correspondent of Turmush provides information about the development of the educational sector in the Issyk-Kul region.

According to archival data, from 1914 to 1915, there were 32 educational institutions operating in the region, of which 30 were primary schools and 7 were seven-year schools.

A school called "Maktab" functioned in the Tatar mosque, where the basics of the Quran, history, geography, arithmetic, and Muslim grammar were taught.

In 1874, a two-year school opened in Przhevalsk, which was transformed into a four-year educational institution in 1879. Education in the school was only available to children from wealthy families, as parents paid for school supplies.

In 1907, an agricultural school and two boarding schools began their work. In 1911, a women's gymnasium was opened, designed for 60 places.

In 1917-1918, new schools for urban residents began to open in the region, including the Nekrasov school for 435 students and the L. Tolstoy school for 270 students.

In 1924-1925, two more secondary schools and two adult education institutions were put into operation, where they taught literacy.

In 1925, 46 literacy combat points were created, where 2,716 people studied, of which 940 were women.

By 1927-1928, there were 127 schools in the region: 125 primary, one seven-year, and one secondary. The number of teachers reached 276.

From 1934 to 1938, the number of educational institutions increased to 165, of which 89 were primary, 63 were seven-year, and 13 were secondary. The total number of educators amounted to 1,067.

Despite the Great Patriotic War, the educational process did not stop.
