Currently, there are 118 municipal preschool educational institutions (PEIs) operating in the city, which can accommodate about 20,000 children.
To determine the need for places in kindergartens by 2050, the following data was used:
- the standard of 53 places per 1,000 residents (calculations considered children aged two to five years and 85% occupancy rate);
- accessibility of kindergartens — 300 meters from the place of residence.
According to the general plan project, the following is planned:
- 105 kindergartens in the Lenin district with a total capacity of over 29,300 places;
- 120 kindergartens in the Oktyabr district, designed for more than 33,500 children;
- 85 kindergartens in the Pervomaisky district with a capacity of over 23,900 places;
- 61 kindergartens in the Sverdlov district, which will be able to accommodate 17,000 children.
Thus, by 2050, the total number of municipal kindergartens in Bishkek will be about 410, with a total capacity of over 101,800 places.
According to the latest data, about 35,000 children are currently waiting to attend kindergartens in Bishkek.
Regarding school education, there are currently 117 municipal general educational institutions in Bishkek with a total capacity of 102,700 places.
For calculations of the need for school places by 2050, the following indicators were considered:
- the standard of 153 places per 1,000 population (with 100% of children needing to be provided with places from grades 1 to 9 and 75% from grades 10 to 12, considering the age structure from 6 to 17 years);
- accessibility of schools — 750 meters (500 meters for primary schools);
- single-shift operation of educational institutions.
The general plan project also includes the construction of:
- 59 schools in the Lenin district with more than 64,800 places;
- 62 schools in the Oktyabr district with a total capacity of over 68,100 places;
- 35 schools in the Pervomaisky district with more than 38,200 places;
- 18 schools in the Sverdlov district, designed for more than 20,000 children.
Thus, by 2050, the total number of municipal schools in Bishkek will be 291 educational institutions, capable of accommodating 293,800 students.
Currently, the capital's schools are experiencing significant pressure, with overcrowding reaching nearly 2.5 times.
