In the village of Novoe in the Sokuluk district of the Chui region, a visit took place from well-known actors who played roles in adaptations of works by Chyngyz Aitmatov.
Students from the Gulsyina Kaparova Secondary School had the opportunity to communicate with Nurgazy Sydygaliev, who is remembered by audiences for the film "The White Steamship," as well as with Nasretdin Dubashov, who played the role of Seyit in "Jamilya." The meeting with them was organized by Bulan Bektenaliev, the head of a public foundation.
“In honor of the Day of the Native Language, we held a literary evening and invited actors connected with the works of Ch. Aitmatov. The guests performed small scenes and answered students' questions,” one of the teachers shared.
Among the questions asked to the actors was: “What incident during filming do you remember the most?”
Nurgazy Sydygaliev shared his story: “In one of the episodes, I had to shout ‘Cars!’ and run down a hill. I was promised that my legs wouldn’t burn when they were set on fire. At first, I didn’t believe it and asked to see, and indeed, the fire didn’t damage my boots. However, during the filming, I started to feel hot — it turned out that my legs were beginning to burn. I shouted, ‘My legs are burning!’ but no one paid attention. In the end, I got burned and limped for about a week. To calm me down, they bought me a toy gun.”

Nasretdin Dubashov also recalled a memorable moment: “In the film ‘The Sky of Our Childhood,’ my role was to die, and the grandmothers around me were mourning. They got so into their roles that for a moment, I really felt like I had left this life. I decided to move my leg and was relieved when it shifted.”

When asked about his first fee, Nasretdin replied: “My parents signed the contract since I was a child. They received the money, and I treated my classmates to ice cream.”

Nurgazy added: “As a result of my work, Chyngyz Aitmatov gifted me an apartment in Bishkek.”

When it came to casting calls, Nurgazy recounted: “I was going to dance with my mom and saw an announcement about a casting call. During the audition, I had to shout, ‘Look, the white steamship!’ and show how I swim. About a thousand teenagers came to the casting.”

Nasretdin, for his part, recalled how he went through the casting: “I told the Russian directors of Mosfilm that I would perform a song. They agreed, and I chose an unconventional approach — I sang from inside a wardrobe. They liked it, and I got the role. I ended up appearing in 15 films.”
