Tokayev spoke at the V National Kurultai

The President of Kazakhstan discussed important aspects in his speech

At the meeting of the National Kurultai, the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, delivered a speech.

As the head of state noted, the year 2025 has become significant for Kazakhstan: the gross domestic product exceeded 300 billion dollars, the income per capita reached 15 thousand dollars, and the reserves of the National Fund amounted to 65 billion dollars, of which more than 35 billion are gold and foreign currency assets.

Preservation of the Aral Sea

Speaking about Kyzylorda, a rich historical center, Tokayev emphasized the importance of preserving the Aral Sea.

He stressed that the restoration of the Aral Sea is a task not only for Kazakhstan but for the entire world.

The President reminded that thanks to many years of systematic work, it has been possible to preserve the Northern Aral Sea. Five years have passed since the start of the project to restore the sea, and now there is a "real opportunity" to raise the water level in the Small Aral. Therefore, it is extremely important to continue ecosystem work both independently and with international support.

The legacy of Abai and the Golden Horde

The President believes that knowledge of history and a confident look into the future contribute to progress and the formation of patriotism. He noted that the study of the common Turkic civilization is also in focus.

Tokayev announced an international conference "Great Altai – the homeland of the Turks," which will take place in September with the participation of Russian colleagues and representatives from other countries.

He also reported on the preparation of a new academic history of Kazakhstan using modern scientific approaches, which will be completed by the end of the year.

This work will be an important contribution to strengthening statehood and forming a holistic historical self-awareness of the nation, coinciding with the 35th anniversary of Kazakhstan's independence.

In May 2026, a symposium dedicated to the Golden Horde will be held, and a premiere of a series about the Golden Horde and Juchi Khan is also planned, with filming concluding in the spring.

Tokayev also announced the completion of a documentary film about Jochi Khan, which will premiere on international platforms.

Culture, youth, and state symbols

The President is confident that the development of cinema will help promote national culture on the international stage, especially through youth.

Tokayev noted that young creators are beginning to explore new forms of creativity and ethics, and cinema is becoming a tool that makes Kazakhstan's culture noticeable and instills pride in one's country.

He expressed joy that the flag of Kazakhstan can be seen in public places, emphasizing the unity of the nation, but also reminded of the need for respectful treatment of state symbols.

The President emphasized that it is necessary to comply with the requirements of the law and understand its true meaning.

Artificial intelligence and digitalization

According to Tokayev, digitalization and artificial intelligence are changing the familiar reality.

He noted that in the new global digital economy, population size may lose its significance.

Nations that can adapt to the new reality created by AI will be successful, the President emphasizes.

Tokayev reminded that Kazakhstan is actively developing digitalization and implementing artificial intelligence in all spheres of life, which will allow the country to integrate into the global economy.

The issue of bride kidnapping and family values

The President condemned the kidnapping of girls, calling it a cruel crime, following the tragedy involving young Nurai in Shymkent.

Tokayev reported that more than 130 appeals regarding this case have been received at the National Kurultai.

Nurai was threatened by the suspect, and the President instructed the Ministry of Internal Affairs to conduct a legal assessment of the actions of the police in Shymkent, while the Prosecutor General's Office is conducting a separate investigation.

The head of state emphasized the need to legally strengthen the institution of marriage as a voluntary union of a man and a woman and to protect traditional cultural values.

He added that criminal prosecution for beliefs differing from the state position on morality should not be allowed.

The state must guarantee the rights and freedoms of all citizens, Tokayev emphasized.
