From an early age, Ulan showed an interest in extreme activities and always followed his passions. He shared: "My roots are from Dolon, but I grew up in Karakol and graduated from secondary school No. 5 named after Narimanov. In 2015, I entered an agritech college in Bishkek, where I studied ichthyology, but I did not work in that field. Times dictate different conditions, and now I am engaged in automotive maintenance. I have always loved extreme activities, and when I turned 18, I started taking cold showers for 15–20 seconds every day. This became a habit, and in winter, I continued this practice. For me, it is beneficial: it improves circulation, increases endurance, and strengthens the immune system. Earlier this year, after a break from work, I swam twice in Dolon."
Ulan also mentioned that he is married and raising a daughter. He shared that in winter, his habit of swimming in cold water has spread to Issyk-Kul and natural bodies of water. "I started swimming in cold water in 2018. My parents and relatives worry about my health, thinking that I might catch a cold, but fortunately, that hasn't happened. When swimming in Issyk-Kul, there can sometimes be a cold wind, and while I look for a towel to dry off, it can be challenging. But in Lake Dolon, I felt safe and wasn't afraid of freezing," he noted.
Ulan recounted that in his childhood, when he had a sore throat, his parents would give him medicine. Now, in similar situations, he prefers to just drink cold water. Recently, he posted a video of his swims on social media, which surprised many—although for him, it's a normal thing. In his free time, he tries to spend time with his family. He mentioned that he has managed to visit the Czech Republic, the UAE, Azerbaijan, Russia, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan.
