History of the Sanatorium
"The Blue Eye of the Earth!" A. Leonov
Cosmonauts, upon returning from flight, often recount that the most unexpected object visible from space on the surface of the Earth for them was not the Great Wall of China or the Pyramid of Cheops, but the high-altitude Kyrgyz lake "Issyk-Kul." As cosmonaut Alexei Leonov, the first to walk in space, loves to tell, from there, Issyk-Kul resembles a human eye.
On the northern shore, approximately in the central part, stands a remarkable building architecturally reminiscent of a ship's hull – the sanatorium "Issyk-Kul Aurora" - the prototype of Aitmatov's "White Steamboat," built in 1979 and currently one of the best health resorts.
The building's design was developed at the Central Scientific Research Institute of Experimental Design of Resort and Tourist Complexes in Moscow from 1969 to 1979, commissioned by the Administration of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union. The project’s chief architect was Yuri Nikolaevich Minaev. According to him, the idea for the ship-shaped design came to him after reading Ch. Aitmatov's book "White Steamboat." He also dreamed of naming the sanatorium. The co-authors of the project were architects: I.N. Mushkunova, L.I. Kunitsyna, and chief engineer R.V. Pleshkov.
Construction of the sanatorium began in March 1972 at the request of the Administration of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Kyrgyzstan. Moscow artists participated in the artistic design of the sanatorium: V.A. Bubnov, T.M. Sokolova, L.L. Kremneva, V.S. Shaposhnikova.
The first vacationers arrived in July 1979. Upon commissioning, the sanatorium had 104 single rooms, 45 double rooms, and 8 suites. Currently, the sanatorium is designed to accommodate 600 vacationers.
During its operation under the Administration of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union, the sanatorium became one of the most elite sanatoriums. Over the years, notable state figures have been guests of the sanatorium: L.I. Brezhnev, Rukavishnikov N., Aksenov V., Karpov A., Obraztsova E., and many others.
Now, continuing the glorious traditions, we operate under the slogan "Everything is better with us." We provide our guests with unique treatments, ideal service, excellent food, and various leisure programs from the Soviet period and national ethnicities. The symbiosis of the style of the old era and national traditions is our hallmark.

Luxurious room includes two bedrooms: one bedroom with a jacuzzi and toilet, the second bedroom with a bath and toilet. The living room is well-equipped, including individual climate control, tea and coffee making facilities, and a work desk.

We offer two-level 6-person and 4-person townhouses (total area of 127-131 sq.m) with comfortable rooms, cozy and stylish interiors, where couples, families with children, or large groups of friends can comfortably stay. Each townhouse room is equipped with a TV with a multi-channel satellite system.
