NBKR extended the permission for banks to conduct currency operations with exchange offices until August 1.
This is already the fourth extension: the permit previously was valid until August 1, 2024, and then until August 1, 2025.
The resolution of the NBKR "On Temporary Solutions in the Field of Conducting Currency Exchange Operations" dated July 22, 2022, No. 2022-P-33/45-2-(NPA) has also been suspended.
Note:
Previously, the following restrictions were introduced:
1. For commercial banks:
- when conducting operations with exchange offices, the amount of cash and non-cash foreign currency purchases/sales must be limited to the turnover funds of the exchange office for one calendar day;
- banks are required to submit weekly reports to the National Bank in accordance with Appendix 1 to this resolution;
- information on conducted operations for the purchase/sale of cash and non-cash foreign currency with exchange offices as of the last working day of the month must also be provided by 16:00 of the next working day;
2. For exchange offices:
- they are prohibited from conducting operations for the purchase and sale of cash foreign currency with commercial banks for an amount exceeding the turnover funds of the exchange office within one calendar day;
- when conducting operations with commercial banks, written confirmations from the head of the exchange office regarding the amount of turnover funds at the end of the previous day and/or at the beginning of the day must be provided, along with a receipt from the cash register (KKM).
