The paper contains colorless fibers that fluoresce under UV light. It features a localized watermark that repeats the portrait depicted on the front side of the banknote. A windowed metallic security thread with microtext "50 СОМ" is embedded in the paper. White coupon fields are located along the edges of the banknote. The portrait, the inscriptions "КЫРГЫЗ БАНКЫ" (Kyrgyz Bank), "ЭЛYY СОМ" (Fifty Som), the denomination "50", and the signature of the Chairman (Төрага) of the National Bank of the Kyrgyz Republic (NBKR) on the front side are made with relief printing.
The banknote features an original design and improved security elements.

On the front side of the banknote, at the top, there is the text "КЫРГЫЗ БАНКЫ", the signature of the Chairman (Төрага) of the NBKR, and the serial number of the banknote printed in red ink. The images on the white watermark field align to form the word "сом" (som) when viewed against the light. On the left side of the banknote is the portrait of Kurmanjan Datka, an outstanding stateswoman of the Kyrgyz people, widely known as the "Queen of Alai," along with the inscription "КУРМАНЖАН ДАТКА 1811-1907". The portrait is made with a microfont that repeatedly spells "Курманжан Датка" and is visible under magnification. In the lines located to the right of the portrait, the repeated inscription "Кыргыз Банкы" (Kyrgyz Bank) can be seen under magnification. To the right of the portrait is an image of the minaret of the Uzgen architectural complex. Below the portrait is the text "ЭЛYY СОМ". In the upper left and lower right corners are the denomination numbers "50". In the lower right part is a yellow rectangle containing a relief image of a national ornament. When viewed from different angles, a hidden image of the denomination "50" can be seen. In the lower right corner is the serial number printed in black.
On the reverse side of the banknote, at the top, is the text "КЫРГЫЗ БАНКЫ". In the upper right corner are the denomination numbers "50". In the center of the banknote is the Uzgen architectural complex, one of the oldest structures along the Great Silk Road in Kyrgyzstan. The main image consists of stylized micro-images of plants. Each architectural monument on the banknotes of the entire series is set against the backdrop of the most beautiful peaks of Kyrgyzstan, symbolizing that the characters depicted on the banknotes have reached the peaks in their fields of literature, music, cinema, and fine arts. In the center of the banknote is an iridescent (made with translucent paint) stripe with the repeating denomination "50" and the inscription "Кыргыз Банкы". At the bottom of the banknote are the digital denomination "50", the text "ЭЛYY СОМ", and the year of issue "2009".

The paper contains red and light green fibers, as well as colorless fibers that fluoresce under UV light. It features a localized watermark that repeats the portrait depicted on the front side of the banknote, as well as a watermark in the form of the denomination of the banknote. A windowed metallic security thread with microtext "50 СОМ" is embedded in the paper. A striped code is located on the left and right edges of the banknote. The portrait, the inscriptions "КЫРГЫЗ БАНКЫ", "ЭЛYY СОМ", the denomination "50", and the signature of the Chairman (Төрага) of the NBKR on the front side are made with relief printing.

It features a localized watermark with the portrait of the akyn Toktogul Satylganov. The paper contains a visible vertical security thread with microtext "КЫРГЫЗ БАНКЫ". The portrait, the inscriptions "КЫРГЫЗ БАНКЫ", "ЭЛYY СОМ", the denomination "50", and the signature of the Chairman (Төрага) of the NBKR on the front side, as well as the main image of the inscription "КЫРГЫЗ БАНКЫ", "ЭЛYY СОМ", and the denomination "50" on the reverse side, are made with relief printing.
