In accordance with the resolution of the Board of the National Bank of the Kyrgyz Republic No. 15/1 dated May 6, 2003, "On the series of collectible coins 'Kyrgyz Statehood', dedicated to the 2200th anniversary of Kyrgyz statehood and the 10th anniversary of the national currency," the coins "Genesis of Kyrgyz Statehood" and "10 years of national currency" with a denomination of 10 soms were put into circulation in the territory of the Kyrgyz Republic starting from May 8, 2003.
The collectible coin '10 years of national currency', dedicated to the 10th anniversary of the introduction of the national currency is minted from sterling silver and has an international quality of "proof." The coin has the status of an official means of payment in the territory of the Kyrgyz Republic.
On the obverse side of the coin are images of all the coins of sovereign Kyrgyzstan issued during the 10-year history of the national currency, which commemorate significant milestones in the history of Kyrgyzstan: the anniversary gold coins "Manas - 1000" and "Osh - 3000," silver coins "Manas - 1000," "Khan-Tengri," "Argali," and "Edelweiss." The unifying element of the composition on the obverse side of the coin is a stylized image of the tunduk of a Kyrgyz yurt, crafted in gold. At the top is an inscription (10 soms), indicating the denomination of the coin. At the bottom is a mark indicating the purity of silver and the weight of the coin (Ag 925/28.28).
On the reverse side of the coin is the coat of arms of the Kyrgyz Republic. In the center of the coat of arms, against the backdrop of a lake and the foothills of Ala-Too, over which the sun rises, is an image of a white falcon with outstretched wings, symbolizing the freedom and independence of Kyrgyzstan. In the center of the coin, framed by a national ornament, is the inscription "Улуттук валютага 10 жыл" ("10 years of national currency"). At the bottom is the year of issue of the coin (2003).
To avoid damage, the coins are placed in acrylic capsules. Each coin is housed in a separate box with an attached certificate.
