Kyrgyz-Ata Natural Park

Kyrgyz-Ata Natural Park is located in the basin of the river of the same name, which flows down from the northern slope of the Kichik-Alaï ridge, about 40 km from the city of Osh along the road leading to the village of Iski-Naukat. The valley is surrounded on all sides by stunningly beautiful pointed peaks, adorned with snow caps, of the Kichik-Alaï range. The cliffs are composed of limestone with outcrops of multicolored marble.

In the upper part of the area, the Mazars, Kaldai, and Karagoy districts stand out, where all the beauties of nature are united. In the upper reaches of Kyrgyz-Ata, there is the First of May Pass and some others leading into the Kichik-Alaï Eastern Gorge.

From the upper reaches, one can see numerous spire-like and tower-like peaks, most of which do not have commonly accepted names. The riverbed completely changes character: narrow deep canyons are replaced by wide sections of the most picturesque mountain landscapes, immersed in the greenery of juniper forests.
In the lower reaches, at the confluence of Kyrgyz-Ata and Khoshchan in the Naukat Valley, there is a canyon known among the local population as Aravan Dangi. Here, the river has carved through a rocky ridge of the Tuyamuyun mountain range, which rises almost half a kilometer high. On the sheer walls on the right bank of the Aravan-Sai River, images of mountain goats, horses, and ritual symbols, known as Naukat rock paintings, are carved.

In the canyon area, there are fascinating caves that are easily accessible for visits. In the Kyrgyz-Ata Gorge, in the middle reaches of the river on its left bank, there is a botanical reserve of the same name covering an area of 30 hectares, created to protect areas where saffron and some species of tulips grow.

There are several sources of mineral water here. Among them is the thermal spring "Tuyamuyun," located in the mountain range of the same name, and the spring "Iski-Naukat" - in the interfluve of the Aravan-Sai and Ak-Buura rivers. Throughout the territory of Kyrgyz-Ata, there are many historical and cultural monuments, mainly ancient settlements and burial mounds, where ceramics, weapons, tools, jewelry, and household items have been found.
