In Chuy Region, 320,000 hectares of land are irrigated. The head of the water management department spoke about the state of the water supply system.

- The head of the Main Department of Water Management of the Chui Region, Erlan Omuraliyev, reported that by January 1, 2025, the total area of irrigated land in the Chui Region will reach 320,000 hectares, as announced during a meeting of the board on the socio-economic development of the region.

According to the provided data, of this area, 276,694 thousand hectares receive water through inter-farm irrigation systems, while the remaining 43,394 thousand hectares are supplied by local water sources.

The Chu River serves as the main source of water supply for the region, with its flow regulated by the Orto-Tokoy Reservoir, which has a capacity of 470 million cubic meters. Its system also includes rivers flowing from the northern slopes of the Kyrgyz Range, such as Kyzyl-Suu, Shamshy, Burana, Kegeti, Issyk-Ata, Nooruz, Alamudun, Ala-Archa, Sokuluk, Ak-Suu, Kara-Balta, Chon-Kayindy, Choloq-Kayindy, Jardy-Kayindy, and Ashmara.

Omuraliyev noted that according to long-term observations, the annual flow of rivers in the Chui Valley amounts to 1 billion 566 million cubic meters, which allows for the irrigation of 92,565 thousand hectares of agricultural land.

Of the total area of inter-farm irrigation networks, 173.3 thousand hectares (63%) receive water through inter-district main channels, including:

   •    OCHK-I channel, 16.7 km long — 16 thousand hectares;

   •    OCHK-II channel, 21.5 km long — 12.9 thousand hectares;

   •    Eastern Big Chui Canal, 97.2 km long — 34 thousand hectares;

   •    R-12 channel, 16.44 km long — 8.4 thousand hectares;

   •    Southern Big Chui Canal, 36.96 km long — 6.3 thousand hectares;

   •    Western Big Chui Canal, 146.8 km long — 64.2 thousand hectares;

   •    At-Bashy channel, 43.23 km long — 22.7 thousand hectares;

   •    Sovkhozny channel, 25 km long — 11.11 thousand hectares;

   •    Tush channel, 8.61 km long — 8 thousand hectares.
