The Foreign Ministers of Kyrgyzstan and Turkey discussed regional security issues

On March 7, 2026, an informal meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Turkic States Organization (TSO) took place in Istanbul. As part of this event, a meeting was held between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic, Jeenbek Kulubaev, and his Turkish counterpart, Hakan Fidan, as reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan.

During the negotiations, important aspects of bilateral cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and Turkey were discussed, as well as issues of interaction within international and regional structures. Special attention was given to the necessity of mutual support in multilateral diplomacy and strengthening the strategic partnership between the two countries.

The ministers exchanged views on current issues of international and regional security, including the situation in the Middle East. The Kyrgyz side also highlighted its efforts to evacuate citizens from conflict zones and the measures taken to ensure their safety.

Kulubaev also spoke about major international events planned in Kyrgyzstan in 2026, including the celebration of the 35th anniversary of independence and the holding of the SCO Summit, as well as the Sixth World Nomad Games.

Fidan, in turn, informed about the upcoming Antalya Diplomatic Forum and invited his Kyrgyz colleague to participate in its work, including to speak at one of the sessions.

At the end of the meeting, both sides expressed their interest in further developing Kyrgyz-Turkish relations and continuing active political dialogue at all levels.
