According to information provided by the Main Department of Internal Affairs of the Chui Region, on March 13, 2026, at 17:30, a citizen A.A., born in 1988, approached the duty unit of the Internal Affairs Department of the Issyk-Ata District. He reported that on the same day in the city of Kant, his sister Ch.J., born in 1990, was kidnapped by her ex-husband Ch.S., born in 1990.
This incident was registered, and a criminal case was initiated under Article 165 (Kidnapping) of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic.
According to the investigation, on March 13, 2026, around 09:00, Ch.S. forcibly placed his ex-wife Ch.J. into her Honda Fit and took her to the mountains. There, he threatened her with violence and demanded 40,000 US dollars, continuing to torment her until 21:00.
During operational-search activities, the police detained Ch.S., born in 1990, in accordance with Article 96 of the Criminal Procedure Code of the Kyrgyz Republic, and placed him in a temporary detention facility.
Relatives of the victim told the media about the brutality of the suspect: according to the brother of the kidnapped woman, the ex-husband held her in captivity, broke her leg, attempted to drown her in a body of water, and then took her to a deserted place where he forced her to dig a grave for him. The family expresses concerns that the case may be covered up, as the suspect has a relative in the local police department.
