On March 17, 2026, a fish stocking event took place at Lake Son-Kul, during which the State Enterprise "Son-Kul Fishery" released 4.2 million juvenile omul.
This initiative was carried out as part of the program for the artificial reproduction of fish stocks for 2025–2026, developed by the Department of the Fishery Complex under the Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry of Kyrgyzstan.
The event was attended by employees of the state enterprise "Son-Kul Fishery," the deputy head and staff of the Karatala-Japyrik State Reserve, as well as representatives of local media.
The main goal of the fish stocking is to increase fish stocks in the water body, maintain biological balance, and ensure the sustainable development of the fishery.
