Uzbekistan and Tajikistan are completing work on a joint film

The cultural and humanitarian relations between Uzbekistan and Tajikistan have noticeably strengthened in recent years. According to the press service of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Uzbekistan, this has been made possible thanks to the trusting ties between the leaders of the two countries. Visits by heads of state and joint events have provided an important impetus for organizing festivals, tours, and film forums.

The foundation for cooperation was laid by the 1994 Agreement and the current Program for 2024–2026. The intensity of contacts is confirmed by numbers: over the past four years, the culture ministers of both countries have conducted about 20 mutual visits. This has allowed for the implementation of a number of significant events, such as the "Days of Culture" in Tashkent and Dushanbe, as well as the traditional concerts "Evening of Friendship".

Cinema occupies a special place in their interaction. One of the landmark projects is the historical film "Starry Sky: Jami and Navoi," created jointly by the agencies "Uzbekkino" and "Tajikfilm." Currently, the film is in the editing stage. Additionally, in 2024–2025, the countries successfully exchanged "Days of Cinema," presenting the best contemporary films to audiences.

The celebration of Navruz in Khujand in 2025 was a bright event that brought together the leaders of Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and Kyrgyzstan on a single creative platform. Artists from both countries continue to achieve success on the international stage: the Tajik ensemble "Lola" became a laureate of the "Lazgi" festival, and soloists from the National Conservatory of Tajikistan received high awards at the Makom Art Forum in Uzbekistan.

Future plans include signing a new cooperation agreement for 2026–2027. The agenda includes meetings of three generations within the framework of "Navruzi Olam," new theater tours, and the organization of the next "Days of Culture and Cinema." The development of regional dialogue is also supported by the first meeting of the culture ministers of Central Asian countries, at which Tashkent and Dushanbe proposed initiatives for further rapprochement of peoples through art.
