In 2025, hospitals in Kyrgyzstan that operate under contracts with the Mandatory Health Insurance Fund (MHIF) registered 1 million 165 thousand 676 cases of inpatient treatment. This was reported by the leadership of the MHIF.
Of the total number of hospitalizations, 36% are children under 18 years old, which corresponds to approximately 419 thousand cases.
The fund clarified that each hospitalization is counted as a separate "case." Thus, the figure of 1,165,676 reflects the total number of completed treatment cycles, not the number of patients.
The conditions for providing medical services are as follows:
For children under 6 years old:
According to the State Guarantees Program, this category is completely exempt from co-payment. Treatment, laboratory and diagnostic studies, and necessary medications from the list of essential drugs are provided free of charge.
For children aged 6 to 18 years:
This group must make a medium-level co-payment, the amount of which depends on the profile of the medical department (therapeutic or surgical) and the level of the medical institution.
Procedure for planned hospitalization:
A referral from a family doctor or pediatrician is required. The child's birth certificate must be provided. If there is no referral, planned treatment is paid at the maximum rate at the medical institution's cash desk.
In the case of emergency hospitalization through the ambulance service, a referral is not required, and assistance is provided immediately.
